LEARN ABOUT HOW TO MANUFACTURE COMPOSITE PACKAGING

1. Composite grafting
With the development of technology, composite laminated films can be created by many different methods. The methods that are being used commonly today are double- or multi-layer laminated films with different adhesives. In addition, the laminated film is also created by coating the surface with a layer of liquid film and then waiting for the film to harden to produce the finished product.

Currently, on the market, laminated film packaging is produced by the method of laminating film. This method is commonly used in the production of soft packaging for the food industry.

2. Composite film grafting methods

Corresponding to each film lamination method, we will follow different methods such as Coated extrusion, double extrusion or single extrusion, dry lamination with and without solvent, wet lamination, etc. quality of each product, the manufacturer s suitable methods for the composite film to overcome the advantages and disadvantages that it currently has. So let's learn about these composite film grafting methods.

2.1 Wet grafting method

In this method, to join the films together, the manufacturer uses glue to join two layers of material together. The adhesive used is a liquid adhesive with high strength, commonly used for aluminum films with paper. With water-based artificial polymer glue, the glue will easily penetrate through the aluminum and paper layers.

To ensure that many different layers can be combined, the manufacturer uses glue that is not waterproof. When joining two aluminum films and paper together, the next layer will immediately be added. Therefore, it is necessary to ensure that the two membranes are not permeable to continue the process of gluing the next films.

2.2 Dry grafting method

There are two methods of dry grafting: Solvent dry grafting and solvent-free dry grafting. So what is the difference between these two ways, let's explore:

- Solvent-free dry grafting

This is a dry grafting method that does not use solvents. Specifically, the method will use solid glue. This will help reduce energy and time consumption in drying the solvent in the glue or not having to use blowers and ventilation for drying. In addition, the method also saves costs because no solvents are used for production.

Solid glues used for grafting complex grafting membranes together are of two types: 1-component glue and 2-wall glue. For grafting layers with paper, a 1-component glue will be used due to the characteristics of paper as an easy-to-stick material. All hyhobic films grafting are very effective when applying this method in membrane grafting.

Attention should be paid to the glued part (including the straight shaft or the engraving shaft) during grafting. Besides, in the process of grafting films, attention should be paid to the surface of the film, ensuring tension and good adhesion. The area of the glue layer used for membrane grafting is about 0.8 to 1.5g/1m2.

- Solvent dry grafting

Solvent-free dry grafting is a method of using solvent-based adhesives to graft layers of different properties into a multi-layer film to create product packaging.

After many years of using different membrane grafting technologies and improvements in technology, the solvent-free membrane grafting method is considered the most advanced and optimal technology today. Therefore, in Vietnam, most of the film-grafting packaging manufacturers use this method because of its superiority. What are the advantages of dry grafting?

3. Advantages of dry grafting

- Reduced noise as there is no need for ventilation to dry the diaphragm like wet grafting
- The method does not use solvents, so there is no solvent in the membrane. This method is very suitable for the production of packaging for food and pharmaceutical products
- Does not pollute the air because it does not use chemicals and gas technologies that create emissions
- Lower production cost compared to other membrane grafting methods
- The production time by the solvent-free grafting method is estimated to be shorter than other methods

4. Where to buy composite packaging?

After you have mastered the methods for creating film grafting, you can choose products manufactured according to that technology. It is preferable to give preference to products manufactured by solvent-free grafting method because it is safe for human health. After all, there is no solvent left in the bag. Besides, you should find a reputable supplier so that you can come to see the product directly and listen to the advice from the staff to better understand the product.
